Carl came from Billericay and was one of the few people who accompanied me to Rhayader in Mid Wales on one occasion.
One this particular occasion, I’d rented a Ford Escort XR3i.
We occupied the whole day in and around Rhayader, and he also got to meet Louise. At the time I had stayed overnight with her family, as they had a largish house with many bedrooms.
On another occasion I done what I termed… a ‘whistle stop tour’ of Rhayader and Beddgelert with a girl called Keri, who I’d got to know while working at the Royal Mail in Chelmsford. This was a bit of a one off, compared to my normal visits.
